Description

This obituary of Ellen Call Long describes her as "an authoress of distinction," citing her book Florida Breezes. While it gives positive accounts of her life, it neglects to describe Ellen Call Long as a participant in the system of slavery. When she was deeded The Grove in 195, that deed also included 9 enslaved people.[1]
