Description

A year after the death of Ellen Call Long, the Weekly True Democrat published an article announcing that a meeting of the Daughters of the Revolution had been dedicated to memorializing Ellen Call Long. Included in the article is a speech given at the meeting that discusses Ellen Call Long's family history, her career, and her role as a member of the Daughters of the Revolution. Like many memorializing speeches or obituaries, this does not take a critical view of Ellen Call Long and does not comment on her or her family's participation in the institution of slavery or the violence her father committed against indigenous people.
