Ellen Douglass Long
17 December 1851 – 16 August 1853
Ellen Douglass Long was the daughter of Ellen Call Long and Medicus Long. She died at the age of two from unknown causes.[1] Though her life was short, Ellen Call Long expressed immense grief at Ellen Douglass’ passing, stating in a letter to her son Richard Call Long that “grim visaged Death stole away our baby.”[2] In a letter to Ellen Call Long from her father Richard Keith Call, he offered his condolences and support, also stating that death was “the only common lot of humanity.”[3]
